2013 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 at LA Auto Show

A monster engine fitted on the new 2013 Ford Shelby GT500 has left everyone in awe when figures concerning it were revealed. The 5.8 liter supercharged V8 engine manages to bring together 650 horsepower casting a shadow on all others.

While not exactly belonging in the category of others, the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 pumps out 12 horses less than the Shelby GT500, while the Camaro ZL1 is 70 horses behind. To further continue this comparison A Ferrari 458 Italia develops 80 horsepower less than the Shelby.

The upgrade Ford had installed on the 2013 Shelby puts the vehicle in supercar territory, in a comfortable position. However, that is not the end of the story, not by a long shot. Modifications have been done on almost every parts of the car from powertrain, to suspension, brakes, and aerodynamics.

The new aluminium V8 engine not only produces 650 horsepower but also the torque figure is impressive as well standing at 600 lb-ft. this certainly qualifies this engine for the title of the most powerful V8 in the world. Everything about it is new from the camshaft profiles, cross drilled blocks and heads, to the carbon fiber driveshaft and improved clutch. It also features a one of a kind supercharger.
